LOS ANGELES -- Sparks are making more moves.
Guard Kiana Williams, who was signed in mid-June, has been let go by the team.

Williams was a developmental player for the Mercury before being signed by the Sparks. She played 13 games with the team as her role got bigger after Kelsey Plum went out with an injury. The Sparks have since acquired Monique Akoa Makani (also from the Mercury) and with her return on the horizon (and with Chance Gray also getting minutes), the team has decided to waive Williams.
Williams has had on-and-off stints in the W since she got drafted by the Seattle Storm in 2021. She won a national championship at Stanford that year; she was teammates with Cameron Brink. Williams played for the Storm, Sun, and Mercury before making her way to Los Angeles.
The Sparks made an attempt to sign Ashlon Jackson, who is in a developmental contract with the Sun. The Sun have since matched the offer and converted her deal into a rest-of-season contract.
With the waiving of Williams, the Sparks are down to 11 on their main roster. Whether the Sparks sign another player or move Alissa Pili or Tonie Morgan to a standard contract is yet to be seen.
Williams averaged 3.2 points and 1.6 assists in 11 minutes per game. She scored a Sparks season-high of 10 points against the Valkyries last Sunday.
