EL PASO, Texas — Rising bantamweight contender Emanuel “El Trompo” Moreno will put his undefeated record on the line when he faces Guillermo “GMO” Gutierrez for the vacant WBA Continental Americas bantamweight championship in the main event of Red Owl Boxing’s Boxfest XIX on Aug. 7 at the El Paso Coliseum.
The event, announced Monday by Red Owl Boxing, will stream live on DAZN, with the main card beginning at 10 p.m. ET (8 p.m. MT). Preliminary bouts will air on Red Owl Boxing’s YouTube channel starting at 8 p.m. ET (6 p.m. MT).
Moreno (13-0, 3 KOs), a 21-year-old from Wichita Falls, Texas, enters the bout ranked No. 11 in the world by the World Boxing Association. The undefeated prospect is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Francisco Pedroza Portillo on April 3 and continues to build momentum as one of the sport’s emerging young talents.
Standing across the ring will be Gutierrez (13-3, 1 KO), a 27-year-old San Antonio native and former Team USA standout. Gutierrez was ranked as high as No. 2 nationally at 114 pounds during his amateur career and is looking to rebound after suffering a unanimous decision loss to Floyd Diaz on a Zuffa Boxing card in January.
The matchup presents a compelling contrast in styles. Moreno has developed a reputation as a relentless pressure fighter who thrives on volume punching and forward aggression, while Gutierrez relies on slick footwork, defensive movement and ring intelligence.
The winner will claim the vacant WBA Continental Americas title, a regional championship that could position the victor for higher rankings and future opportunities on the world stage.
“From top to bottom, we are bringing a card of high-action fights with several different Red Owl stars and future champions to El Paso, a town with a rich history of great boxing,” Red Owl Boxing CEO Greg Bloom said in a statement.
The card will also showcase two of the Southwest’s most promising female prospects.
Nineteen-year-old El Paso native “Poison” Ivy Enriquez (7-0, 2 KOs) is scheduled to compete on the DAZN-streamed main card. A decorated amateur who won youth world championships and represented Team USA, Enriquez has quickly become one of the sport’s most talked-about young prospects after opening her professional career with seven consecutive victories.
Joining her will be Las Cruces, New Mexico’s Ariana Carrasco (1-0, 1 KO), a 22-year-old super welterweight who enjoyed one of the most accomplished amateur careers in the country. Carrasco captured 12 U.S. national amateur titles, earned an international bronze medal and represented Team USA on three occasions before turning professional earlier this year.
Carrasco made an impressive pro debut on March 14, stopping Tennielle Young in the first round, and will seek her second professional victory in El Paso.
Additional bouts for Boxfest XIX are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
The event continues Red Owl Boxing’s mission of developing the next generation of boxing talent while expanding its footprint across North America. Founded in 2021 by entrepreneur Gabriel Fanous, the promotion operates dedicated boxing venues in Houston and Brampton, Ontario, and has increasingly focused on providing a platform for emerging prospects to gain exposure through televised events.
