MONTERREY, Mexico -- Possibly the biggest feud in all of wrestling this year has officially come to an end, and it may have come from a promotion you didn't expect.

The WWE’s recently acquired partner company, Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, better known just as ‘Triple A’, put on their ‘Noche de Los Grandes” event on Saturday night, in which the ‘lightning in a bottle’ war between The Original El Grande Americano and El Grande Americano came to a head in a mask vs mask match.

In a roller coaster of a main event, El Grande Americano, one of the biggest babyfaces in wrestling was able to overcome his nemesis, who then unmasked and revealed himself to the raucous AAA fans as a familiar face in the WWE, Chad Gable.

This match and this feud wasn’t just special because of the mask reveal, as everyone knows that it was Gable and Ludwig Kaiser playing the role of the two Americanos, but more so how far the WWE was able to go with this feud, considering the unlikeliness of how it all unfolded.

In 2025, after losing to Penta, Gable vowed to learn the ways of the Luchadors, which is how he began his comedic ‘El Grande’ journey. After having some success and being loved by the fans, he joined Triple A where he lost a match for the AAA Mega Title.

Soon after, he sustained an injury that sidelined him for a bit, which is when Kaiser jumped in as the new Grande Americano. When Gable returned in January at the Royal Rumble, he eliminated Kaiser’s Americano, starting the rivalry between the two.

What first looked at face value like two non-Latino wrestlers making a mockery of Lucha Libre has turned into an absolute hit, and one of the biggest feuds in the history of Mexican wrestling. These two have committed their blood, sweat and tears, as well as serious chunks of their careers to the art, and it showed in their time of battling against one another.

From an elaborate storyline that saw both men with their own masked posses, a love story angle with Kaiser’s Americano’s girlfriend and AAA host Andrea Bazarte, some impressively high-intensity pull-apart brawls and fights and more, it had everything you want to see in a professional wrestling feud.

The fans in Mexico and beyond undoubtedly bought in, showering Kaiser’s Americano with love at every appearance, including after his recent arrest, as well as giving Gable’s heel Americano insane levels of heat, showering him with boos as he always heckled the crowd.

Saturday’s match was a perfect ending to the story, with Gable giving a speech with his family in the ring after the loss, showing respect to his successor, and promising to be back in AAA eventually.

Kaiser’s Americano is now on top of the Lucha world, and is just missing one thing, the AAA Mega Championship, which seems like the only reasonable option for him to go after next.

Fans are already calling this the best WWE storyline and match in a very long time, in a moment that made many emotional after its conclusion. This match and the rest of the event in Monterrey, Mexico was fantastic, and marks the start to what the WWE hopes to be an all-time 24 hours, as their PLE Clash in Italy is still to come, and is set to begin Sunday at 2:00 p.m. ET.
