INGLEWOOD, Calif.- - — The Los Angeles Rams made the most shocking move of night one by drafting quarterback Ty Simpson from Alabama.

With one of the fan favorites and former USC Trojan wide receiver Makai Lemon on the board at 13 many thought that would be the pick. The Rams thought differently adding the former Crimson Tide quarterback.

With talks of a possible extension for star quarterback Matthew Stafford, Rams’ fans were surprised at the move.

Day Two is here and  Los Angeles has some holes to fill as they look to make a return to the Super Bowl as they fell a game short last season.

After not picking a wide receiver in round one, look for Los Angeles to lean that way with two picks on Day Two. The Rams hold the 61st and 93rd pick.

We all know that the Rams are quite good at finding wide receivers outside the first round. You can look at their recent history in finding guys who can make an impact after round one. Wide receivers Cooper Kupp, Puka Nacua, Van Jefferson were all picked after the first round. One thing though is that the later it gets in the draft, the harder it is to come away with quality talent at the position.

Los Angeles will also look to the offensive line with one of the Day Two picks. The team needs to find depth upfront whether a swing tackle or more depth at the guard position. Though tackle David Quessenberry is back with the team, Los Angeles needs someone to compete with him as he couldn't beat out D.J. Humphries last season. The Rams will also look for depth at the guard position in a draft filled with talent at the position.

The Rams can also look to bolster the defense possibly adding a coverage linebacker to complete the strengthen of the defense after adding two great corners during free agency. Linebacker Omar Speights has been solid but coverage is where he struggles. Nate Landman was a revelation last season be he can get put in tough spots at times when in coverage.

What has made the Rams a perennial power in the NFC is the fact they seem to find talent after round one which leads to depth and surprise starters. Let’s see after the shocking pick in the first round if the Rams right the ship and add more talent that can help them host the Super Bowl again this time in 2026.
