First Pick: Kings Moneyline

Rundown: The Los Angeles Kings (18-14-10) return to action Friday night as they open a brief two-game road swing with a matchup against the Winnipeg Jets (15-22-5) at Canada Life Centre.

Los Angeles is coming off a frustrating overtime loss to San Jose, a game in which the Kings held a one-goal lead in the final minute before allowing the tying goal and eventually falling in the extra session. While the Kings enter Friday sitting fifth in the Pacific Division, they remain just four points behind the division-leading Vegas Golden Knights. Defense continues to be Los Angeles’ identity, as the Kings allow the fifth-fewest goals per game in the NHL (2.67). Offensive inconsistency remains a concern, with Los Angeles ranking 28th in goals per game and struggling to create scoring opportunities near the net.

On the opposite side, Winnipeg enters in search of answers as the Jets have dropped 11 consecutive games dating back to Dec. 13. After opening the season 14-12-1, Winnipeg has lost 14 of its last 15 contests, sending the club to the bottom of the Central Division standings. Defensive breakdowns have plagued the Jets throughout the skid, surrendering four or more goals in each of their last four games. Since Dec. 6, Winnipeg has collected just six standings points, managing only one regulation win while suffering four overtime losses.

With the Jets in a prolonged tailspin and Los Angeles lurking in the Western Conference, expect the Kings to respond to Wednesday’s loss with a composed, defensive-driven road victory.

Second Pick: Lakers -3.5

Rundown: Luka Dončić and the Los Angeles Lakers (23-12) square off against two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks (16-21) in a star-studded non-conference matchup at Crypto.com Arena.

Los Angeles welcomes Milwaukee looking to rebound after a 16-point loss to San Antonio on Wednesday night. Despite the defeat, Dončić poured in 38 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, but the supporting cast struggled to find a rhythm in the 107-91 loss. The Lakers remain atop the Pacific Division, holding a two-game cushion over the Phoenix Suns. Dončić’s league-leading 33.7 points per game have translated to success in the betting market, with Los Angeles covering the spread 19 times in 35 contests. That trend could continue against Milwaukee's 14th-ranked defense, who allows 115.6 points per game through 37 contests this season. Los Angeles is 17-3-1 against the spread when scoring more than that average and has also gone 10-6-1 ATS when favored by three or more points.

Meanwhile, Milwaukee enters off a 120-113 loss to Golden State after stringing together back-to-back wins against Charlotte and Sacramento. Offensive inconsistency has been a season-long concern for Milwaukee, ranking 25th in the NBA in points per game. Still, Milwaukee remains dangerous from the perimeter, ranking second in the NBA in three-point shooting at 39.6%. Those scoring struggles have shown up at the window, as the Bucks have covered just 17 of 37 games (45.9%) this season and own a 7-8 ATS mark when listed as underdogs of three points or more.

With the advantage of home court and Dončić continuing to set the tone offensively, expect Los Angeles to dictate the pace and deliver a composed performance that results in a controlled victory.
