LAS VEGAS -- While the UNLV Rebels wait patiently for Tuesday’s game against the Ohio Bobcats in the Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl, another exciting development has the team looking towards the future.
On Thursday, the Rebels unveiled their Mountain West conference slate for the 2026 football season.
The Rebels have witnessed serious upheaval in the Mountain West over the course of the past year. Five programs (Boise State, San Diego State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Utah State) are departing for the rebuilt Pac-12 starting next season, while the Mountain West gained Northern Illinois and the University of Texas-El Paso for the upcoming football season.
It will not be long for UNLV to see how their new rivals fare in their new conference, as both the UNI Huskies and UTEP Miners will be making trips to Allegiant Stadium this upcoming season as part of the Rebels’ eight Mountain West conference games.
The Battle for the Fremont Cannon will also be taking place in Las Vegas, with the Nevada Wolfpack coming to Allegiant Stadium as well. The Wyoming Cowboys round out the home slate for the Rebels.
UNLV’s four in-conference road games is headlined by the Ninth Island Showdown, when the Rebels defend the Golden Pineapple in Honolulu against the Hawai’i Rainbow Warriors. Likely conference co-favorite New Mexico Lobos is also on the docket for the Rebels on the road, as are the Air Force Falcons and San Jose State Spartans.
The current dates of the Mountain West games are yet to be determined.
The other games currently known to UNLV include the California Golden Bears on Oct. 3 at Allegiant Stadium, and road games against the North Texas Mean Green (Sept. 12) and Akron Zips (Sept. 26). The Rebels have another out-of-conference home game on their slate for next season, but both the opponent and date are still to be determined.
