First Pick: Under 41.5 Points

Rundown: The Los Angeles Chargers (8-4) welcome the Philadelphia Eagles (8-4) to Sofi Stadium for a Monday Night Football clash between two teams looking to solidify themselves as contenders. The Chargers enter Monday night 2.5 games back of the Denver Broncos in the AFC West while the Eagles are trying to keep pace with the Los Angeles Rams for the No. 1 seed. Philadelphia has dropped two straight against Dallas and Chicago and has slipped to the three seed in the NFC playoff picture.

Philadelphia’s struggles on offense have been evident during its two-game skid, producing only 15 points across the last six quarters. The Eagles offense, led by reigning Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts, has been unable to move the ball consistently through the air or on the ground, ranking 22nd in both categories. That could spell trouble against Los Angeles’ 2nd-ranked pass defense, which has allowed 168.3 yards per game. In its last four wins, Los Angeles has given up an average of 13.5 points per game and forced five turnovers. Philadelphia’s lack of production has also contributed to seven of its 12 games finishing under the point total.

For Jim Harbaugh’s offense, Justin Herbert is expected to start tonight despite fracturing his left hand in last week’s win over Las Vegas. Los Angeles has struggled to find rhythm offensively and ranks 22nd in points scored at 23.1 per game. Herbert’s injury combined with Philadelphia’s inconsistent offense should be major factors and point to this matchup staying under the projected total.

Second Pick: Under 5.5 Goals

Rundown: The Los Angeles Kings (13-8-7) travel to the Delta Center for a meeting with the Utah Mammoth (14-13-3) in a Western Conference matchup.

This game features strength versus strength with Los Angeles’ 2nd-ranked scoring defense facing Utah’s 9th-ranked scoring offense. Los Angeles’ defensive success has contributed to 17 of its 30 games finishing under the 5.5 total. Three of Utah’s last four home games have also ended with five or fewer goals.

A key factor is execution on the power play. Both teams rank in the bottom five in conversion rate, which should help keep scoring chances limited. Expect a defensive battle and a low-scoring finish.

Third Pick: Pelicans +9.5

Rundown: The New Orleans Pelicans (3-21) host the San Antonio Spurs (15-7) at the Smoothie King Center. The teams are trending in opposite directions. New Orleans has lost six straight and 15 of its last 16 while San Antonio has won seven of its last 10.

Despite the NBA’s worst record, New Orleans has been strong against the spread. The Pelicans hold a 14-10 ATS mark and have covered eight times in 13 games as underdogs of 9.5 points or more. They have also been more reliable at home, covering 61.5 percent of their games. San Antonio’s strength is its defense, which ranks 10th in points allowed at 114.5 per game. That number could work in New Orleans’ favor as the Pelicans are 11-2 ATS in games when they score more than 114.5 points.

Expect New Orleans to compete on both ends and stay within the spread.
