LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles Lakers fans will be able to experience games in an entirely new way later this season as Apple announced that select Lakers matchups during the 2025-26 campaign will stream in Apple Immersive on Apple Vision Pro, courtesy of Spectrum SportsNet. The initiative brings mixed-reality NBA broadcasts to the mainstream, placing viewers closer to the action than ever before and introducing one of the most innovative viewing formats in professional sports.
Viewers within the Lakers’ regional broadcast territory — including Southern California, Hawaii and parts of southern Nevada — will be able to watch the games live in Apple Immersive, where the experience is designed to replicate the sensation of sitting courtside. Using spatial video technology and ultra-high-resolution stereoscopic capture, fans will see the game from angles impossible in traditional TV broadcasts. The production relies on Blackmagic Design’s new URSA Cine Immersive Live camera system, developed specifically for Vision Pro and capable of rendering environments with cinematic clarity and depth.
Full game replays and highlights in Apple Immersive will also be available in select regions through both the SportsNet and NBA apps one to three days after each game. Apple Immersive’s sports offerings continue to grow alongside a slate of original content that includes “Adventure,” “Metallica,” “VIP: Yankee Stadium” and MotoGP’s “Tour De Force,” with additional projects from the Audi F1 team and Red Bull arriving soon. Vision Pro users can also stream traditional Lakers broadcasts on a theater-sized virtual screen through the Spectrum TV and NBA apps, which offer features such as real-time stats, multiview and a 3D tabletop mode.
Apple Vision Pro is available in more than a dozen global markets, including the U.S., Canada, the UK, Japan and Australia. The Lakers’ Apple Immersive broadcasts require visionOS 26 or later and access through the Spectrum SportsNet or NBA apps, with regional restrictions applying.
