First Pick: Philadelphia Phillies Moneyline

Rundown: This is the heavyweight clash of the day, with Shohei Ohtani starting for the Dodgers against Cristopher Sánchez of the Phillies. Both pitchers are coming off dominant seasons—Ohtani with a 2.87 ERA and Sánchez with a Cy Young-worthy 2.50 ERA. The Phillies have home-field advantage, and Sánchez has been elite at home, posting a 1.94 ERA and a 27-5 NRFI record this season. Ohtani, meanwhile, enters with a 17.1-inning scoreless streak and has held opponents scoreless in the first inning in seven straight starts. I think the  Phillies edge out a win behind Sánchez’s control and home crowd energy.

Second Pick: Milwaukee Brewers Moneyline

Rundown: Chicago’s Matthew Boyd faces Milwaukee’s Freddy Peralta in a battle of NL Central rivals. Boyd has a solid 3.21 ERA and pitched well in the Wild Card round, but Peralta has been lights-out with a 2.70 ERA and a dominant 1.77 ERA at home. The Brewers’ ace has a 28-5 NRFI record and has tossed a scoreless first inning in 16-of-17 home starts. Chicago’s bats were quiet early in the Wild Card series, and Milwaukee’s pitching depth should keep them in check. Pick: Brewers take Game 1 with Peralta setting the tone.

Third Pick: Texas -4.5

Rundown: Texas enters as a 6.5-point favorite, boasting the No. 2 scoring defense in the country and a rejuvenated Arch Manning at quarterback. Florida’s offense has struggled, averaging just 22 points per game and ranking last in the SEC. While the Gators’ defense is solid, their offense hasn’t shown enough to keep pace with Texas’ balanced attack. Manning has 13 total touchdowns since Week 2 and should exploit Florida’s secondary.  Texas  should cover the spread and win by double digits.
