RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. -- For many years, the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes have been the Single-A affiliate for the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Quakes have brought in many baseball fans in the Inland Empire area and have ultimately been successful since they joined the Dodgers’ organization in 2011. Since that 2011 season, the Quakes have six division titles, two league titles, and have already clinched the playoffs for the 2025 season.

With the Dodgers’ contract at LoanMart Field in Rancho Cucamonga coming to an end, they are poised for a relocation to a neighboring city in Ontario, California. Beginning construction in October of 2024, the Ontario Sports Empire is set to make its debut in the spring of 2026. This 199-acre complex will not only house the future Single-A affiliate of the Dodgers that holds over 6,000 fans, but it will also add eight baseball fields, four multi-use football fields, and eight soccer fields.

The Ontario Sports Empire is also estimated to bring in 1.2 million visitors each year along with around $1.5 million worth of new tax revenue, per the City of Ontario website. The Ontario Pro Baseball Club will announce their new team name on September 18th. Many fans speculate that the new team name will be something related to planes or aviation since the new complex is located near the Ontario Airport.

So what does this mean for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes? In December of 2024, the Quakes came to an agreement with the Diamond Baseball Holdings group (DBH) as their new owner. The DBH currently owns over 40 minor league baseball teams and focuses on innovation and the growth of the MiLB. The Quakes will now be the Single-A affiliate for the Los Angeles Angels starting in the 2026 season.

The Quakes were formerly the Angels Single-A affiliate from 2001 to 2010. During those nine years, they were only able to win one division title. Grant Riddle, the Quakes General Manager and Vice President, stated the following in a recent article posted on the DBH website, “We’re grateful for the unrelenting support we’ve received from Quakes fans and the local community over the years, and we’re excited to reunite with the Angels to embark on an exciting partnership as their Single-A affiliate in 2026.”

Sports fans around the Inland Empire are excited and eager for the Ontario Sports Empire to open. The Ontario Professional Baseball Instagram account already has 14,500 followers without a single game being played. As the team reveal gets closer, and the start of the new season, this number will only grow substantially.
