ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Returning from injury as a young player can often be an arduous journey. Just getting started in the major leagues is hard enough and throwing in rehab assignments on top of that is trouble that no player needs.
That was the story for Los Angeles Angels outfielder Bryce Teodosio. The 26-year-old made his major league debut with the Halos in the 2024 season, getting one hit in 12 at-bats across a brief five game stint. Teodosio's time in the big leagues was cut short in September 2024 after he broke his finger during a bunt attempt, starting a turbulent journey back to the Big Leagues.
He elected free agency in 2024 after recovering from his finger fracture and then re-signed with the Angels on Nov. 27, 2024 and joined the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees. On August 2, the Angels selected Teodosio's contract in an effort to bolster the outfield depth with some added defense. He made his 2025 MLB debut that same day in the Angels' game against the Chicago White Sox starting in center field, territory that Jo Adell has typically occupied in 2025.
"Teo is more comfortable in center. I think if you ask Jo, he would say he's most comfortable in right," Angels interim manager Ray Montgomery said pregame. "We try to get everybody in the best position we can and get the best triumvirate out there."
Montgomery doesn't have any outfield line-ups set in stone for the remainder of the season, but having Teodosio as an option adds some much needed depth with Jorge Soler on the injured list and Mike Trout still slowly making his way back to playing in the field.

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Bryce Teodosio (22) catches a ball outfield during the MLB game against the Chicago White Sox, Saturday, August 2nd 2025 at Angel's Stadium in Anaheim, Calif.
"He [Teodosio] is going to get a chance to go out and do what he does. He's a well-above average defensive center fielder," Montgomery said. "He runs really well. He tracks balls. He has huge instincts in center field so for him to be there and be here, I think it's a benefit for us across the board."
His time in the minor leagues in 2025 has been limited due to rehab from a separate injury. In 16 games in Triple-A Salt Lake Teodosio batted .321 with five RBIs and 12 runs scored.
"Feels absolutely amazing. Super, super thankful, give all the glory to God, and just really happy to be healthy again," Teodosio said pregame. "I missed three months of the season, so that was tough, but feeling really good and just ready to roll... I feel like nothing happened with my surgery, so, can't complain."
He gave a lot of credit to the Angels' new training facility in Arizona for his recovery, saying, "Big shout out to all those guys there... I think it's outstanding. They have all the resources possible and all the right people around there... I was very fortunate with how well things went there with my surgery."
There was more than one 2025 Angel debut in the game. With the Los Angeles trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the seventh and desperate for offense, infielder Oswald Peraza made his Angels debut pinch-hitting for Yoan Moncada. His debut was less than successful and he grounded out to shortstop.
It was a slow day across the board for the Angels offense, mustering just one hit in the 1-0 loss, an infield single by shortstop Zach Neto in the fourth inning. Teodosio went 0-2 to kick off his 2025 season before being pinch-hit for by catcher Travis d'Arnaud in the bottom of the eighth.
