BOSTON -- The Boston Red Sox offense jumped on Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw, and Garrett Crochet's six dominant innings on the bump pushed Boston ahead of Los Angeles by a final score of 4-2 Saturday evening.
Crochet showcased a bounce-back performance in this one, as he started his outing by giving up two home runs in the first inning alone. The first homerun was hit by Shohei Ohtani, his 38th long ball of the season, and in back-to-back days, Teoscar Hernandez hit his 16th homerun of the season, a ball that landed over the green monster.

Even with the shaky start, Crochet quickly regained his composure and locked down the Dodgers for the remainder of his start. The 26-year-old had a final stat line of six innings tossed, only allowing two earned runs on eight hits while striking out 10.
Kershaw, who was pitching in his first regular-season start at Fenway, had a different outcome in his appearance, getting hit around as he allowed four earned runs through 4 2/3 innings on six hits. The last time the future Hall of Famer pitched at Fenway was Game One of the 2018 World Series, which ended with the same result.
Jarren Duran was the star for the Red Sox, cranking two triples along with two RBI. Rookie sensation Roman Anthony went 2-2 with two walks, a double, and an RBI to his credit.
With this loss, the Dodgers lose a game ahead in the NL West standings, now only holding a five-game lead over the San Diego Padres. The Dodgers will send out Dustin May to hopefully close out the series in Boston, and the Red Sox will send out Dodgers alumni Walker Buehler.
