LOS ANGELES -- The Sparks bring back a familiar face in their coaching staff.
Latricia Trammell, who previously served as the Dallas Wings head coach for two years, will be rejoining the Sparks. This time around, she will be the special assistant to head coach Lynne Roberts, the team announced on Tuesday.
“We’re excited and fortunate to have LT formally join our staff,” Roberts said. “She’s an experienced coach and a tremendous person. I’m looking forward to working closely with her as we make a push for the playoffs.”
Trammell has been seen around the Sparks at times this season. Now she is officially once again part of the Sparks coaching staff.
“I’m incredibly honored and grateful to return to the Los Angeles Sparks— an organization that holds a special place in my heart,” Trammell said. “This franchise has a rich legacy, a passionate fanbase and a commitment to excellence that aligns with everything I believe in as a coach. I want to thank Head Coach Lynne Roberts for the opportunity to be part of this exciting new chapter. I’m excited to get back to work with this talented group of players and coaching staff."
Trammell's resumé includes being an assistant to the San Antonio Stars (now Las Vegas Aces) and being a Sparks assistant from 2019-22. She was focused on the defensive end, helping Candace Parker win Defensive Player of the Year in 2020. The Wings hired her in 2023 and they went all the way to the semifinals after a 22-18 regular season record. Trammell was let go by Dallas after last season, which saw them regress to a 9-31 record in 2024.
The Sparks defense hopes to get a boost now that Trammell has returned to Los Angeles.
