LOS ANGELES -- Kelsey Plum has been named to her fourth consecutive WNBA All-Star Game, an honor that underlines just how quickly she’s become the engine of the Los Angeles Sparks in her first season with the team.

Traded in February as part of a three-team deal that signaled the Sparks’ intent to reboot around proven talent, Plum arrived in L.A. with championship pedigree and the experience of leading one of the league’s most dominant rosters in Las Vegas. She brought exactly the skill set the Sparks needed to steady a rebuilding franchise.

Plum is averaging 20.1 points (fourth in the league), 5.6 assists (seventh), and has made 44 3-pointers (third). She’s on pace to become only the second player in WNBA history, after Diana Taurasi, to average at least 20 points and 5 assists in multiple seasons.

For Los Angeles, those numbers are more than just stats; they’re proof that the team has a legitimate star to build around. It’s also a big reason the Sparks are competitive, even as they try to reshape their culture and roster. Plum’s scoring, floor vision, and leadership have made an immediate difference on a struggling team.

But Plum has been candid about the adjustment. Moving from the stacked Aces roster to a team in transition has meant embracing a different mindset.

In an exclusive interview with The Sporting Tribune earlier this season, she said, “It’s a new situation, I’m focused on taking it day by day. In Vegas, it took time for us to become a winning team. That’s the approach I’m bringing here.”

She’s also honest about the toll that chasing championships can take. “Winning one title is tough. Going for three in a row is on another level,” she said. “Every night you’re facing someone’s best game, and that can really wear on you.”

Plum knows what it takes to shine on big stages. As an All-Star in 2022, she poured in 30 points to win MVP in her debut appearance. That ability to rise when the spotlight is brightest is one of the reasons the Sparks made her their centerpiece.

Now, she’ll head to Indianapolis for the 2025 AT&T WNBA All-Star Game on July 19 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. It’s familiar ground; the Sparks just left Indiana with a hard-fought win over the Fever on Saturday, giving Plum the highest win percentage of any player in WNBA history against a single opponent. Her nomination is a reflection of the leadership that’s translated not just on the stat sheet but in the locker room.

And for Los Angeles, this All-Star selection isn’t just an individual milestone for Plum; it’s validation that its franchise centerpiece is the real deal and that the rebuild is moving in the right direction.
