LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to be among the more active teams in free agency, which began Monday afternoon, and they wasted no time, signing 23-year-old forward Jake LaRavia to a two-year, $12 million deal in the opening hour, per ESPN’s Shams Charania.

The deal came moments after Dorian Finney-Smith signed a four-year, $53 million contract with the Houston Rockets. Losing Finney-Smith is a tough blow for the Lakers, not only losing a favorite teammate to Luka Dončić but also wasting away three second-round picks they used to acquire the 3-and-D forward at midseason last year.
LaRavia is a solid addition to L.A.'s wing depth, standing at 6-foot-8-inches and possessing above-average playmaking skills that can stretch the floor for the Lakers' bench.
The Pasadena native played 66 games last season between the Grizzlies and Kings, averaging 6.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists per contest. He played three seasons in Memphis before being traded to Sacramento last season, where he shot 38% from 3 in 19 games.
