LAS VEGAS — Canelo Álvarez and Terence Crawford stood toe-to-toe Friday at T-Mobile Arena, exchanging sharp words and icy glares in a heated press conference to promote their Sept. 13 showdown at Allegiant Stadium — a fight already being billed as the biggest boxing event of the year.
With UFC president Dana White and Saudi sports chairman Turki Alalshikh flanking the fighters, the press event marked the final stop in a three-city media tour promoting the unified super middleweight title fight, which will stream globally on Netflix.
Álvarez, the reigning undisputed champion at 168 pounds, dismissed Crawford’s resume, saying, “You’ve fought nobody. That’s why you look great.” Crawford, the undefeated former undisputed champion at both 140 and 147 pounds, quickly fired back: “I’m walking you down come fight night. This is my moment. This is my legacy.”
White, taking on boxing promotion for the first time in his career, promised fans a spectacle worthy of Las Vegas and combat sports history. “This is going to be the biggest fight we’ve ever been involved in,” he said.

Crawford is attempting to become the first male fighter in boxing’s four-belt era to become undisputed in three weight classes. Álvarez, meanwhile, is aiming to silence any remaining doubters by beating one of the sport’s most respected pound-for-pound champions.
The fight will be held at the 65,000-seat Allegiant Stadium, marking one of the largest-scale boxing events in recent Las Vegas history. Ticket details and broadcast packages are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
