LOS ANGELES — Lakers beat writers Dan Woike and Jovan Buha announced their exits from Los Angeles Times and The Athletic on Friday, just two days after the team was sold.
Woike, who has covered the NBA and the Lakers for the Los Angeles Times the past six years, announced his departure from the newspaper in a tweet on Friday.

Woike's departure follows a wave of newsroom buyouts at the paper, which included over 40 guild staffers last month .Meanwhile, at The Athletic, Buha, who has spent the past seven years reporting on the Lakers, announced his departure on Friday as well. Buha shared via X that, “It’s hard to put into words how much this place has meant to me.”

Woike and Buha did not announce what they plan to do next although Buha will continue covering the Lakers independently through his podcast, "Buha’s Block." Woike, Buha and the other Lakers beat writers recently talked about what it's liked covering the team on a daily basis and balancing home and work life during the season.
