LOS ANGLES -- In a thrilling start to the 2025 MLS season, Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) secured a 1-0 victory over Minnesota United FC at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. The match remained deadlocked until the 78th minute when forward Jeremy Ebobisse, a recent acquisition for LAFC, delivered a stunning left-footed shot from outside the box, finding the top corner of the net. This decisive goal not only marked Ebobisse's first for the club but also extended LAFC's record of winning every MLS home opener, now standing at eight consecutive victories.

Throughout the match, LAFC dominated possession with 64%, creating multiple scoring opportunities. Minnesota United's defense held firm until Ebobisse's breakthrough despite being limited to a single shot on goal. The match also saw LAFC's goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris, making a crucial save in stoppage time to preserve the clean sheet. Ebobisse's performance highlights the impact of LAFC's offseason signings. Before joining LAFC, the 27-year-old forward had accumulated 60 regular-season goals in his MLS career, including six against his new team. His addition to the squad, along with other key signings, aims to bolster LAFC's depth and offensive capabilities for the season ahead.

LAFC’s defense stifled the visiting Loons, holding them to just one shot on target and securing the club’s eighth consecutive season-opening victory (8W-0L-0D) since joining Major League Soccer in 2018

The victory sets a positive tone for LAFC as they kick off the new season, with fans eager to see how the team's fresh talent will contribute to their championship ambitions. Up next, LAFC faces the Colorado Rapids on Tuesday, February 25. Trailing 2-1 on aggregate, they will be looking to overturn the deficit and secure a crucial victory. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. PT, with live coverage on FS2. The club will then shift its focus back to MLS action, hosting New York City FC on Saturday, March 1, at 7:30 p.m. PT at BMO Stadium.
