NEWARK, N.J. -- The Vegas Golden Knights ended their losing streak at four to get a 3-1 win on the road against the New Jersey Devils. They were able to get a goal in the second period scored by Nic Roy and were able to ride comfortably a second-period lead that went to 2-0 with another goal scored by Shea Theodore.
With 15:54 left in the 3rd period, Jack Eichel scored to make it a 3-0 game.
The game then went from 3-0 to 3-1 due to a power play goal scored by Ondrej Palat, who scored this 12th goal of the season for the Devils and his only shot that came in the game tonight came on that goal.
Key Stat
Jack Eichel's goal makes it his 19th goal of the season and his 67th point, and is tied for 6th on Points with David Pastrnak, and Kyle Conner.
Takeaways
I think the Golden Knights played about 45-50 minutes of the 60 minutes in this game well defensively, being able to keep the game scoreless for that long helps the forward's confidence and know that their scoring contributions will be for the lead and for not when you are going behind.
Limiting the shots on goal throughout those 45-50 minutes helped limit the chances of scoring and obviously, the stat of shot attempts is gonna be a little inflated for those last 80 seconds because of the empty net but that was something I enjoyed seeing from Vegas tonight was the way they played defensively and to be able to stop the number of attempts on goal that the Devils could get.
Next Game
The Golden Knights will play the Boston Bruins at 12:30 PM PST on ABC.
