CEDAR PARK, Texas. – The San Diego Clippers (5-7) lost to the Austin Spurs (8-4) 107-90 in back-to-back games at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park.

A similar result to the first matchup, the Spurs got out to an early lead with the Clippers struggling to score. By the end of the first quarter it was a 37-21 lead.

Jalen Adaway finished with 21 points for San Diego. Keyshawn Bryant led scoring for San Diego’s bench, with 16 points on 6-12 shooting.

After the end of the first quarter, the 16 point deficit was a pit that the team couldn’t climb out of. They trailed for the rest of the game after that.

Malachi Flynn, a former San Diego State Aztecs star, had 22 points for the Spurs.

As far as team statistics were concerned, It was actually quite close on the box score. San Diego shot 40% from the field, and just under 37% from three, compared to Austin’s  46.7% from the field and just over 38% from three.

Two things that were in favor of the Spurs which caused separation – free throws and offensive rebounds. San Diego was out rebounded 47-40, with 10 of those being offensive. Austin had 15 offensive rebounds.

Free throws on the other hand, were also in favor of the Spurs. They finished 13-20 from the line, whereas San Diego went 8-11. This is a bigger implication because of how the G League works: Free throws are one shot for two points, and thus every made free throw is a bigger disparity.

With this loss in mind, and frankly these back-to-back losses, the Clippers will head to Oklahoma City to take on the Blue. The game will be played at the Paycom Center on Monday, Jan. 27. Tip-off will be at 5 p.m. PT.
