Vegas Golden right wing Alexander Holtz (26) eyes the goal while attempting a shot during NHL game against Philadelphia Flyers on Monday Jan. 2, 2025 in Las Vegas.

The Vegas Golden Knight got back on the winning track with a 5-2 victory against the Philadelphia Flyers at T-Mobile Arena on Thursday.

Mark Stone had a goal and an assist. Nicolas Hague, Pavel Dorofeyev, Alexander Holtz, and Tanner Perason also scored. Jack Eichel and Noah Hanifin chipped in with two assists. Ilya Samsonov made 23 saves for Vegas (26-9-3).

“Our details and our stopping and starting slot battle weren't good enough in the first period,” Golden Knights coach Bruce Cassidy said. “We’re also at the point of the year where we are in the standings, some teams are looking at us and saying, ‘Hey, we're going into their building, we better be ready to play.’ I assume some teams are saying that. We have to own that. We've earned that respect around the league, but you've got to be prepared every night. You're not going to get too many easy passes, so that's what I feel has happened a little bit, and we weren't ready to start.”

How The Goals Were Scored

Tyson Foerester scored the opening goal 21 seconds into the game to give the Flyers a 1-0 lead.

The Golden Knights then scored the next four goals.

Stone tied the game 51 seconds into the second period, driving to the net and tapping in a Jack Eichel pass.

Hague followed up at 2:13 with a wraparound goal.

Dorofeyev extended it to 3-1 at 18:22 with a shot from the right circle.

Holtz pushed it to 4-1, scoring on a wrist shot from the high slot at 2:46 of the third period.

“It was a big goal to get it to 4-1. When you can stretch the lead, it makes it that much more difficult for teams to come back,” Stone said. “That was kind of something that we didn't do in the Montreal game. … I thought tonight we were able to get the lead to three with ‘Holtzy'’s goal.”

Travis Konecny cut it to 4-2 at 4:56, before Pearson added the empty-net goal at 19:24 to round out the scoring.
