LOS ANGELES — Tommy Edman has reached a 5-year, $74 million contract extension with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The agreement is from 2025 to 2029 and includes a sixth-year club option. It features a $17 million signing bonus along with deferred money.
Los Angeles continues to secure their chance of repeating in 2025 as they keep the 2024 NLCS MVP in a Dodger uniform.
Edman, 29, joined the Dodgers in a trade with the St. Louis Cardinals, where he was rehabbing to return to the active roster. The utility player made his debut in the Dodgers lineup in mid-August and excelled from the moment he donned the jersey.
The switch hitter batted .237 with six home runs and 20 runs batted in the six weeks he played after being activated from the IL.
The Dodgers knew the kind of player they were acquiring when they traded for him, but they were as surprised as anyone by his remarkable postseason performance. He won the NLCS MVP after defeating the New York Mets and concluded the year with a World Series ring.
Edman played in 16 postseason games, batting .328 with 20 hits, 12 runs, five doubles and two home runs.
