PALM SPRINGS, Calif. — JuJu Watkins scored 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks, and Avery Howell scored 14 points to lift USC (5-1) to a 84-51 nonconference victory Wednesday over Seton Hall (4-2) at Acrisure Arena.
Howell notched a career-high coming off the bench, shooting 6 of 10 from the field. The freshman guard played a season-high 22 minutes. USC played the first of two games at the Acrisure Holiday Invitational in Palm Springs, California.
USC’s height outmanned Seton Hall in the paint and outrebounded the Pirates 65 to 40. However, USC's shooting struggles from three-point range continued, as they shot 6 of 21.
At halftime, USC led 42-26.
In the third, the Trojans went on a 14-0 run to take a 60-39 lead. USC outscored Seton Hall 22 to 9 in the final quarter.
USC finished with 16 turnovers, while Seton Hall had 13. The Pirates shot 32 percent from the field.
USC’s Kiki Iriafen scored 15 points. Rayah Marshall finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Pirates’ Faith Masonius scored 25 points. I’yanna Lops had 9 points.
