The Anaheim Ducks’ starting line propelled the team to a comeback win against the Chicago Blackhawks, 3-2, Tuesday night.
The line — consisting of Alex Killorn, Leo Carlsson and Trevor Zegras — combined for three assists and two goals on the night.
The Ducks are now riding a three-game winning streak — their longest of the season — and have improved their record to 8-8-2.
“Our team’s kind of starting to gel. We’re starting to get some chemistry within the lines,” Killorn said.
However, the first goal from the Ducks was scored by starting defenseman Pavel Mintyukov and assisted by third-string wing Brett Leason to tie the score at one with less than a minute left in the first.
Leason’s coming off of a game where he had a goal and two assists.
Blackhawks center Jason Dickinson put his team up by one goal in the second, which marked the only goal in the period.
It was the next period where the Ducks’ starting line came alive and won them the game — first Zegras assisted a Killorn score with just over 14 minutes left, and then the latter two assisted on a Carlsson game-winner four minutes later.
Goalie John Gibson saved 18-of-20 shots tonight and is 3-0 to start his season.
Anaheim was scoreless on the power play, but outshot Chicago 24 to 20.
The Ducks beat the Dallas Stars on Monday and traveled to Chicago for Tuesday's win — their first win on the second night of a back to back all season.
“It was tough to get home late, but it’s part of the game,” Carlsson said. “Playing a simple game today was the key.”
Carlsson scored his fourth game-winning goal of the season, tying for second among all NHL players.
Next, Anaheim will look to ride the streak back home, where they host the Buffalo Sabres Friday at 7 p.m.
