INGLEWOOD, Calif. — The Rams suffer a tough loss to the Miami Dolphins 23-15 on Monday night. Los Angeles never led in this game as they struggle to score touchdowns against Miami. The Rams are now 4-5 as they still are in the mix for first place in the NFC West.
Here are takeaways from the Rams loss to the Dolphins:
The Rams couldn’t find the end zone on Monday night
The Rams offense out-gained the Dolphins in the air and on the ground but could not get the ball in the end zone on Monday night.
Los Angeles finished the game 0-3 in the red zone.
The Rams got a solid performance from Puka Nacua and Copper Kupp who combined to have 16 catches for 178 but it wasn’t enough.
Matthew Stafford threw an interception and was sacked four times. Stafford looked uncomfortable in the pocket throughout the game.
The Dolphins did a good job slowing down Kyren Williams and the Rams rushing attack. Williams finished the game with just 62 yards rushing and lost a fumble in the second quarter a play after the Rams’ defense intercepted the ball.
The key to the Rams offensive success will be their star players but also the play of their offensive line. If the offensive line struggles like tonight’s game things may be tough for Los Angeles going forward.
The Karty Party
Rams kicker Joshua Karty was the only offense for the Rams on Monday night.
Karty finished the 5/6 including a 55-yarder to end the first half. He accounted for all 15 points for Los Angeles.
The offense drove the field but couldn’t finish and Karty carried them most of the game.
Karty’s only miss of the game came on a 57-yard try on the first drive of the second half for the Rams.
The rookie out of Stanford has been solid this year for Los Angeles. He will be looked upon to be consistent down the stretch to help the Rams win games.
The front four continues to shine
The Dolphins had issues all night going against the Rams defense even though they found a way to win.
Their number one issue was the front four of the Rams.
Byron Young, Jared Verse and Kobie Turner caused havoc all night for the Dolphins’ quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and De’Von Achane.
They each picked up a sack apiece and they shutdown Achance and the running game to 67 yards.
The defense stood out but their offense let them down and it led to the loss on Monday night.
The front four is key to the success of the defense and if the offense has it struggles the defense will need to continue to play well to win games.
