An epic conclusion to an amazing League of Legends season

This week marked the end of the League of Legends Worlds. Over the past month, there have been Cinderella runs like WeiboGaming TapTap’s trip to the semi finals. There were huge upsets like T1 over Gen.G and Bilibili Gaming battling back from the brink of elimination in the Swiss Stage to make the finals. Now, there is only one match left that separates T1 and Bilibili Gaming from the LoL crown. 

Game one was a hard fought battle on both sides. In the end, the first match's deciding factor was BLG’s coordination and communications. They would take the game-one victory to jump out to an early 1-0 lead over T1.

Game two played out much differently than the previous match. For thirty minutes, both teams clashed for the victory. This time the decider was the efficiency of T1, an efficiency that would allow them to even the series up at one apiece. 

The third game of the series saw BLG return to their game-one form. Seemingly unrattled by their game-two loss, Bilibili Gaming came out firing on all cylinders. This allowed BLG to capture the game and move up 2-1 on T1, one game shy of the League of Legends Worlds title.

In game four, with their back against the wall, T1 responded. They came out of the gate with a sense of desperation and a need to push this series the distance. Despite BLG’s best efforts, T1 got their wish, evening the series back up at two a piece with a winner-takes-all game five. 

Game five, everything was on the line. One match separated these two teams from League of Legends immortality. Would the efficiency of T1 or the communication of BLG win the day? After a hard-fought half hour, we got our answer. T1, after upsetting the previous number-one ranked team in the world Gen.G, now dethroned the new number-one ranked team en route to the 2024 League of Legends World Championships.

This has been a roller coaster of emotions over the past month. From dominant play by the world's best to upsets by unlikely underdogs, this tournament had it all. In the end, when the dust settled, T1 emerged victorious. This was an amazing season of LoL play, and there is much more to come next season, so stay tuned.
