Shocker in semis of League of Legends Worlds

This past weekend we saw four teams square off in a battle for the chance to punch their ticket to the League of Legends Final. In the end, only two squads could advance to next weekend. So let's zoom in on the first match of the semi-final.

WeiboGaming TapTap vs Bilibili Gaming Dreamsmart

WeiboGaming TapTap has had a Cinderella run. After a shaky start, they caught a heater and ended up in the semi-finals. They have risen inside the top 10 in Global Power Rankings in just under a month. However, their Cinderella run ended here as they ran into Bilibili Gaming Dreamsmart. 

Bilibili Gaming started 1 and 2. They barely escaped elimination early in the Swiss Stage. However, since then, they have flipped a switch. They leaned on their elite talent and have been on fire since then. That fire translated into the semi-final match where they swept WeiboGaming TapTap en route to punch their ticket to the finals.

T1 VS Gen.G Esports

Gen.G had dominated this tournament. They came in as the number one team according to the Global Power Rankings. They were the first team to qualify for the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, the rust of not playing for a while did seem to affect them. However, they battled back and won that series. They were poised to make a final run, yet they still had one game to get there: T1.

T1 started the tournament off pretty average. They won their first game of Swiss play, lost second and placed fourth in the quarterfinals. In their quarterfinal match, they kicked into another gear, crushing Top Esports in a 3 to 0 victory. T1 carried this momentum over into their semi-final match against Gen.G, winning the first match. Gen.G would fight back though to grab the second-game victory. Yet, this fight would not deter T1. After a hard-fought third and fourth game, T1 emerged victorious in the big upset versus the previously number-one ranked team in the world to snatch their ticket to the finals.

With the Play-In stage, Swiss Stage, quarterfinals, and semi-finals in the books, there is only one match left: the finals. On the line is the title of the best League of Legends team in the world. Who will capture the title? Will it be Bilibili Gaming Dreamsmart or T1? Only time will tell. Tune in next week to find out.
