After shutting out San Francisco back-to-back nights, the Padres beat the San Francisco Giants 4-3 in 10 innings on Sunday behind Donovan Solano's RBI groundout and completed the three-game sweep.
Padres starter Martin Perez (4-5, 4.36 ERA) threw five scoreless innings but gave up a game-tying solo home run in the sixth inning. Perez allowed two hits and one run in five-plus innings with one walk and two strikeouts.
Manny Machado drove in the game's first run with a sacrifice fly in the sixth, scoring Luis Arráez, who had led off the inning with a single.
San Diego took a 2-1 lead when pinch-hitter Fernando Tatis Jr. homered in the eighth, his fourth home run in five games.
The Padres (85-65) remain atop the National League wild-card race with just 12 games remaining in the regular season.
Here are the takeaways:
Extra inning win
With the score tied at 2-2, David Peralta led off a two-run 10th inning by driving in automatic runner Jake Cronenworth. Donovan Solano grounded out later in the inning, resulting in Peralta scoring the second run.
Adrián Morejon retired all three men he faced in the bottom of the 10th to record his second save. He did allow the automatic runner at second to score but secured the Padres' 4-3 win over the Giants.
Arraez run continues
Arráez extended his incredible streak to 140 consecutive at-bats without striking out. It is the longest since Juan Pierre went 147 at-bats without a strikeout in 2004.
Arráez also had two hits on the afternoon to extend his hit streak to 13 games.
Wild card update
With the Diamondbacks' 11-10 win over the Brewers, the Padres retained the top NL Wild Card spot by 1½ games. The Padres extended their lead over the Braves and the third wild card spot to 3½ games.
The Padres trail the Dodgers by three games for the West Division lead.
Padres right-hander Yu Darvish (5-5, 3.52 ERA) will face Astros right-hander Spencer Arrighetti (7-12, 4.72) in the opener of a three-game series at 6:40 p.m. Monday.
