SAN DIEGO – The San Diego Clippers, the NBA G League affiliate of the Clippers, will begin their first season at Frontwave Arena in Oceanside on Nov. 8 against the Portland Trail Blazers' affiliate, its NBA franchise announced Tuesday.
The G League team is playing its first season in San Diego after playing since 2017 in Ontario.
The league announced each of its 31 teams will play in a 16-game Tip-Off Tournament and a 34-game regular season with team records being reset. It will then conclude with the playoffs and the eventual NBA G League Finals in April.
The tournament would place teams into four regions that would play 14 games against each other. The teams with the best winning percentage in each region and the next four with the best winning percentages would advance to the playoffs at the G League Winter Showcase.
Every team will play at least two games at the Winter Showcase.
After the Winter Showcase, the San Diego entry begins its 34-game regular season against the Memphis Hustle on Dec. 27 at the Oceanside venue, which will have a capacity of 7,500.
San Diego Clippers courtside and season tickets have gone on sale. Single-game tickets will be available later this fall.
