Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is scheduled to undergo further medical testing to determine the extent of an injury he sustained in the fourth quarter of Thursday night's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, NFL Network reported Friday.

Herbert was driven to the ground by Chiefs defensive end Mike Danna about halfway through the final quarter and was in obvious pain. The injury is believed to be to his rib area.

NFL Network reported that X-rays were believed to be negative, but that additional testing was needed to reveal any possible injuries to rib cartilage or internal injuries.

Herbert, 24, threw a touchdown pass to wide receiver Joshua Palmer with 1:15 remaining in the game as he tried to rally the Chargers from a 10-point deficit. He finished the game 33-of-48 passing for 334 yards with three touchdowns and an interception.
